Full Episode Mavis & the Trucks

This week on the Island of Sodor, Mavis is sent away to work on Duck's branchline, The Little Western, until blasting is over at the quarry. When Mavis returns she finds exciting new areas of the quarry to explore, but the troublesome trucks enjoyed their break. Will Mavis be able to handle the trucks or will the trucks get the better of her?

This episode and several others from Season 2 were filmed alongside Season 1. You will notice the difference in quality, especially the 4:3 aspect ratio (square) vs. the 16:9 aspect ratio. (rectangle)

In season 1 Mavis never really got the spotlight all to herself. In Haunted Jobs, she shared the spotlight with the other engines tell her about the haunted jobs. In Diesel Danger, she was a side character next to Percy. I wanted to give Mavis an episode all to herself and be about the quarry. So this is what I came up with.
Hope you enjoy this new adventure! Come back next Wednesday for more adventures from the Island of Sodor!

Full Episode Quick as a Cat

This week on the Island of Sodor, Sir Handel begins to notice the station master's cat and becomes very interested about how fast it moves. The station master notices and tell Sir Handel that he is running late and will have to be 'as quick as a cat' to make up for lost time. Will Sir Handel be able to be as quick as a cat?

The inspiration for this episode came from my own cat named Pumpkin. I had her for almost 6 years when she got into a severe accident and I had to decide whether to put her down or let her live with a poor quality life. I put her down because she had fulfilled the measure of her creation and had joy therein. So this episode is in memory of her and the many memories we had together. It's amazing how an animal can be such a friend, yet you never get to fully communicate with them. This world is just full of amazing things.

Full Episode Terence Saves the Day

This week on the Island of Sodor, Thomas has been watching the way Gordon acts, being all big and important. Thomas decides that he wants to act important and go as fast as he wants. But there is a tree on the line. Will Terence be able to save Thomas from a disaster?

When writing Season 2 I knew that I need more roadway characters to get some spotlight. This episode was for Terence, but more of the focus moved to Thomas, but that's ok because you might notice that Thomas isn't going to get a ridiculous amount of spotlight in Season 2.

Full Episode Old & Wise

This week on the Island of Sodor, some of the other little engines have been teasing Skarloey about his old age. However, after a series of accidents and bad luck, it's up to Skarloey, the Old & Wise Engine, to come to the rescue three engines at once! Will Skarloey be able to handle it?

When I was younger I knew Skarloey from watching the season 4 episodes about him and the other narrow gauge engines. I knew he was old, but didn't realize that he was over a hundred years old, until I read the Railway Series. The best stories of Thomas & Friends are found in the railway series and that is why I wanted my series to stay as close to the original 4 seasons of Thomas & Friends because I knew that they were the best stories, with the best morals.

Sights of Sodor - Picnic Area

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the Picnic Area in the forests of Sodor! Watch the little narrow gauge engines doing their day's work by checking out the latest video!

This area is one of the famous scenes of the Skarloey railway and I had fun recreating it. I hope you guys enjoyed it and all of the other shorts featured leading up to the release of Season 2.

Sights of Sodor - Snowy Quarry Junction

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the snowy Quarry Junction! Watch as the little engines try to make their way through the snow by checking out the latest video!

So this is another set that is totally made by me and not a replication of any TV series set. Because of the Restored Quarry location that I made for Bertram, I needed to have a track that allowed the engines to get to the quarry. So this is what I came up with. I really like it, especially the valley look in the back.

Today's short is the little engines trying to make their way through the snow. The latter end of Season 2 will have a lot of snowy/Christmas stories so to promote those I decided to show this off. Hope you guys enjoy!

Sights of Sodor - Mid Sodor Sheds

This week on the Island of Sodor, we go back in time to see the Mid Sodor Railway! Watch Stuart, Falcon, and Duke as they bustle about as they get ready for work by checking out the latest video!

Do my sets look like the ones in the TV series?

The second episode of Thomas & Friends I ever saw was "Bulldog" so natural the Mid Sodor Railway and the location of the engine sheds are particularly special to me so I had to include the Mid Sodor Railway in my series.

We've got several exciting adventures about the Mid Sodor Railway in Season 2 so I better not give away too much information, otherwise it might spoil it.

Sights of Sodor - Dried Up River Bed

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see Dried Up River Bed! Watch a time lapse of the little narrow gauge engines doing their day's work by checking out the latest video!

In the TV series this set didn't get much air time, but I specifically remembered the scene where Rheneas is pulling one coach and a brake van over the bridge in the song "Gone Fishing" and I've really like the look of the set and how it was in contrast to the river bridge. So I decided to make the set because I thought it would make a fun addition to my series.

Sights of Sodor - Narrow Gauge Countryside

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the countryside that the little narrow gauge engines travel through! Watch as Skarloey tries to figure out what to do when a cow strays onto the line by checking out the latest video!

As I was writing season 2, I ran into a problem with my stories. There were only so many different locations that the narrow gauge engines could chat because there were only so many locations where there were tracks that ran side by side. To make things easier for me while writing I added a new location of my own that had 2 tracks running through it so I could have 2 engines go side by side and talk to each other so that they didn't always need to be at a station or yard in order to chat.

Today's short is based off of the TV series' episode "A Cow on the Line" watch and see what the narrow gauge engines do to solve the same problem that Gordon and Henry had.

Sights of Sodor - Rheneas Station

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see Rheneas Station! Watch as a workman tries to get home, but accidentally misses his train by checking out the latest video!

What do you think? Did I do a good job remaking this set from the TV series?

I'm really proud of the turnout of this set. I didn't think I would be able to replicate it that well, but I did a side by side comparison and wow! Not just the station, but the shed, the road, the hill, the watermill, and everything else turned out fantastic!

For today's video, you get to see a workman who accidentally misses his train home and has to try and figure out how he will get home. This one was fun to make. After I had filmed all the scenes for Season 2 on this set I got to play around with my camera and make this little short. Hope you guys enjoy!

Sights of Sodor - The Tunnel

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the Skarloey Railway Tunnel! Watch a time lapse of the little narrow gauge engines doing their day's work by checking out the latest video!

What do you think? Did I do a good job recreating the set from the TV series?

In the TV series Duncan gets himself trapped in this tunnel and calls it a "rabbit hole". It's also the place where an icicle hung down and knocked off Peter Sam's broken funnel. I thought it would be fun to make a video as if you were sitting on a bench besides the line and spent the day train spotting. So hope you all enjoy this video!

Sights of Sodor - The Mountainside

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the track running along the mountainside! Watch as Peter Sam tries to figure out what to do after a landslide by checking out the latest video!

What do you think? Did I do a good job at remaking this set from the TV series?

In the TV series the mountainside is an enormous set depicting a huge mountain with a tiny ledge for the narrow gauge track to run around. It was here that Rusty and Harold had their chats. I did not have the space to make something of the same size, but I tried to recreate it the best I could by using camera angles. The mountainside was made by putting a bunch of giant rocks I found together and running the flexi track across it.

Sights of Sodor - The Skarloey Railway Viaduct

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the Skarloey Railway Viaduct! Watch from the sidelines as the engines go about their work on the viaduct by checking out the latest video!

How well did I do at recreating this set from the TV series?

I've never had such a large and difficult set to work with until I had to film on this. The Skarloey Railway Viaduct has always been an iconic part of the Skarloey Railway, even reappearing recently in the TV series' 18th season. This bridge is huge! And very difficult to film with. If you can't tell, the bridge itself was taller than the sky background that I had so I had to make a special blue background poster that was big enough for the sky background to sit on.

Sights of Sodor - The Lakeside Station

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the Lakeside Station! Watch the little narrow gauge engines doing their day's work around the lake and village by checking out the latest video!

What do you think? Did I do a good job recreating this set from the TV series?

This set has always been one that has fascinated me and I'm really glad I got the chance to remake it. In the Railway Series, the lake that the narrow gauge engines run around is just a simple lake, but in the TV series there was this awesome village that was situated around it. I loved watching the different scenes that take place here. I'm still very impressed with the modelers from the original TV show and what they made to bring Thomas & Friends to life.

Watch video: Click Here!

When I was replicating the village I tried to get as close as I could with each of the buildings. I think I did a pretty good job, but you guys will have to let me know what you think. Sadly it was too hard to try and remake the blue bridge that normally appears on the left side of the village, so instead I added a little customized area of my own that has a shed for the narrow gauge engines to stay at.

Sights of Sodor - The Hill

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the big narrow gauge hill! Watch as Sir Handel tries to make it up the hill by checking out the latest video!

Everyone knows Gordon's Hill that the standard gauge engines have to get over, so I wanted to have a similar challenge on the narrow gauge line. So I made a hill that the engines have to get over. So today's video is Sir Handel's experience of trying to take a goods train over the hill.

When I made the hill it was originally a lot shorter. It was suppose to be the height of two of the Tomy yellow plastic supports. The process of making the hill was me filling the area with newspaper and covering it in Woodland Scenics plaster cloth. The newspaper ended up making the hill much taller than I thought it would be so now the hill is much more difficult than I originally planned. If you look closely at my other sets you can probably spot the hill somewhere in the background being used as scenery.

Sights of Sodor - Sodor Castle Causeway

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the Sodor Castle Causeway! Watch the little narrow gauge engines journey up and down the line throughout the whole day by checking out the latest video!

Did I do a good job trying to replicate the castle in the TV series?

I don't know of anyone else who has remade this castle, but it was pretty fun to do out of foam. I drew up a design of what the  castle looked like and cut it out of foam and painted it and made the island that it is on. The building itself is actually a façade. The building is only painted on the front side just for filming these scenes. I was disappointed that the castle itself was never actually used as part of a story in any of the earlier TV series episodes so I made at least one episode that centers around the castle. I think you guys will really enjoy it.

Sights of Sodor - Glennock Station

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see Glennock Station in the evening! Watch the little narrow gauge engines hurry home at the end of the day by checking out the latest video!

Did I do a good job recreating the set from the TV series?

When I wrote the scripts for Season 2 this station was known as Glennock, but I guess since then there has been an official map of Sodor and now it has been confirmed that this is technically Skarloey Station, but I kept the original name that I used all throughout Season 2. This is a really nice looking station. I made it out of foam like most of the other buildings.

I mentioned back in the River Bridge post that I had a couple of new ideas I implemented into Season 2. Well on top of cloudy skies, I've also added evening skies and lighting scenes. I'm really happy with the way they turned out, they add a little extra to the story.

Sights of Sodor - Restored Quarry

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see Bertram the Old Warrior at work! Watch Bertram shunt a train for Sir Handel by checking out the latest video!

Truth is I didn't even try to replicate the mine. I had fun making it my own original location.

I originally never planned to use any characters after season 4 of the TV series in my show, but when I saw Bertram was made for TrackMaster I knew that there was so much potential with his character that I decided to include him and the other season 5 characters. Bertram was a character that only appeared in 1 episode in season 5 of the TV series and has so much potential because he was never explored. So in my series, the quarry that he worked at has been restored and is up and running again like a normal quarry with Bertram running the whole show with the help of the other narrow gauge engines.

Sights of Sodor - S Track

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the S Track! Watch the little narrow gauge engines journey up and down the line throughout the whole day by checking out the latest video!

Does my set look like the one in the TV series?

So truthfully, I don't actually know the real name of this location. It is seen in several Season 4 episodes of the TV series, but it doesn't have a specific name. If you watch the comparison of Peter Sam and the Refreshment Lady you will probably be able to see which location I'm trying to replicate. The name I gave this set, S Track, is because of the way the track bends in the TV series location. It isn't entirely and S, but I didn't know what else to call it.

Sights of Sodor - Roadway Friends

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see our roadway friends at work! Watch the vehicles of Sodor doing their work by checking out the latest video!

I've always been fond of the roadway friends on Sodor. I think they give a variety to the episodes. They make it so it isn't always just about the railway, but the other people who live on Sodor too. You'll get to see a couple of episodes in season 2 that are just about roadway friends so you'll have to check back often to see them in action.

Sights of Sodor - River Bridge

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the River Bridge! Watch the little narrow gauge engines journey up and down the line as they pass by this bridge by checking out the latest video!

Does my set look like the one in the TV series?

I said before that the first episode I ever saw was "Peter Sam and the Refreshment Lady" and I loved this scene as Peter Sam went over the bridge with the blue coaches. For this little sneak peak I wanted to be creative and show off one of the new ideas that I came up with after season 1 was completed. This idea was using a gray backdrop to represent an overcast or cloudy sky. This allowed me to have stormy scenes without it being nighttime like in "The Plumber's Express." I'm really happy with the way it turned out and it sparked a couple of other ideas that I've implemented into Season 2. I won't spoil anything. I'll just let you guys spot them later.

Sights of Sodor - Narrow Gauge Sheds

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the Narrow Gauge Sheds! Watch the little narrow gauge engines bustle about getting ready for work by checking out the latest video!

When I started making plans for filming Narrow Gauge episodes I knew right from the beginning that I wanted to use the same style of shed that is seen in Season 4 of the TV series. It was my favorite. I especially loved seeing all the bigger engines bustle pass the little engines who were having some conversation. In later seasons of the TV series the sheds were changed into a different form. They were situated more in the mountains, but I didn't really like that version.

It was interesting to see these sheds return right behind Crovan's Gate Station in the 18th season of the TV series.

Sights of Sodor - Crovan's Gate Station

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the large Crovan's Gate Station! Watch the little narrow gauge engines bustle about the big station by checking out the latest video!

Does my set look like the one in the TV series?

The first full episode of Thomas & Friends I ever saw when I was 2 years old was Peter Sam and the Refreshment Lady. So this large station to me was the original "big station" instead of Knapford Station. I still love the look of Knapford Station, but hardly anyone ever has tried to remake this station, so I hope you guys like it!

This week on the Island of Sodor, we journey up the line to see the classic slate incline! Watch a remake of Peter Sam's accident with the trucks by checking out the sneak peak by clicking the link below!

Does my set look like the one in the TV series?

When I first decided I was going to make season 2 more about the narrow gauge engines, I wanted to make sure that some of my favorite locations from my childhood were in it. So I took extra effort in making the slate incline as close as I could to the original season 4 set. I hope you enjoy it, especially the cool rock outcroppings.

Season 2 Release Date Announcement!

It's been almost 2 years since the end of Season 1 and in my opinion it's been far too long to keep you guys waiting. I feel really bad about how long it took to produce Season 2, but I had several unexpected things come up, but I was able to take the time and finish up Season 2 so that it is ready to be released now.

I'm sure a lot of you thought that Season 2 was going to actually start today, but that's not the case. Some of the episodes still have to have the eyes animated so it won't be until November 4th that you will get to watch the first episode of Season 2.

But! I don't want to leave you all disappointed. When I was filming all the Narrow Gauge episodes I was in love with all the new sets I had built and replicated to look like the TV show. So every Wednesday leading up to the release of Season 2 I will have a new video uploaded showing off one of these fantastic sets!

The names and titles of all the episodes for Season 2 are going to be kept a secret until the week before each episode is released. I will have a special sneak peak uploaded the week before to tease the next episode and get you guys excited!

Happy April Fool's Day! Collaboration with DieselD199

Happy April Fool's Day!

I've been super excited to share this project with you guys! Me and DieselD199 have been working on this project for a while and I hope you all enjoy it! You can check out the episode he filmed for me at http://youtu.be/K2oki0RwlRI

This is really a significant event for me. I actually started my series because of watching DieselD199's Tomica Thomas and Friends series. It was around 6 years ago that I decided that I was going to start my own series that was filmed with Tomica/TrackMaster engines, just like DieselD199, but I was going to have my series be more like the original TV series and kid friendly, while his was more of a comedy with some not kid friendly content.

DieselD199 was a great help in starting my series. I would message him on YouTube and ask for his advice and opinion on things. He helped me with a lot of improvements to  my series and I'm super grateful for his help. After talking with him, a while back he asked me if I would like to be one of the Admins of the Thomas the Tank Engine Community Channel. I was thrilled at the opportunity to help out a community that shares the same love for Thomas & Friends.

So make sure to go check out this awesome YouTuber's channel and give him a subscription!
