Full Episode Thomas & the Christmas Party

The Standard Gauge engines are very excited for Christmas. Sir Topham Hatt tells them that he is going to have a very large Christmas party at Knapford Station. The engines all have to help out. He gives them each special jobs to do for it. Will Thomas be able to complete his job?

This episode and several others from Season 2 were filmed alongside Season 1. You will notice the difference in quality, especially the 4:3 aspect ratio (square) vs. the 16:9 aspect ratio. (rectangle)

I do wish that all the season 2 episodes could've been filmed with such high quality as the narrow gauge episodes, but that was the best I had to work with when I was filming season 1. I want to thank all of you amazing fans for joining me on the great adventure of season 2. I hope you all enjoyed it. Keep checking back for more updates and news about season 3!!!

Full Episode Narrow Gauge Christmas

All the narrow gauge engines are excited for Christmas the next morning. They hear that Sir Topham Hatt has a special gift for all of them, but when they wake up the next morning the refreshment lady needs their help delivering goodies. Will the little engines learn the true value of Christmas?

Since I made all these episodes surrounding Christmas, I knew that the story about Christmas day itself had to be great. I couldn't fit all the characters into one grand Christmas episode, so I decided to divide it into 2 episodes, one standard gauge, and one, narrow gauge.

Full Episode Henry's Special Delivery

Henry is sad that he doesn't have a special train to himself. Percy tries to comfort him, but it is no use. Later Sir Topham Hatt finally gives Henry a special job, but as Henry is pulling the Sodor Winter Carnival Special, will he learn what really makes a special job so special?

This episode and several others from Season 2 were filmed alongside Season 1. You will notice the difference in quality, especially the 4:3 aspect ratio (square) vs. the 16:9 aspect ratio. (rectangle)

I mocked specials before in the episode Kick the Bucket, where Duke makes fun of the word specials. I wrote this episode long before that one, so this was one of my first attempts to make fun of the Sharon Miller era of writing. If my memory serves me correct, I wrote this during season 14-15 which was when the 3 strikes and specials were at their peak.

The China Clay Works is very slow during the winter, but the mail is very busy with all the letters, presents, and parcels, so Sir Topham Hatt asks Bill and Ben to help Percy out with the mail train. Percy is worried. What tricks will Bill and Ben be up to this time?

Full Episode Snowed In

Bertram is going to be all alone for Christmas like how he has been for every other Christmas. When the other little engines hear about this, they decide to have him join their Christmas celebrations, but when a snow storm hits and the quarry is snowed in, will that stop the heroic engines?

In the last post about winter episodes I explained how I used potato flakes, well when it came time to film the narrow gauge sets, I had gotten a little bit wiser. I found the layout snow that is sold almost anywhere during Christmas time and I used it instead. It was much easier to use, but had to be placed a certain way. The nice thing was that I had carefully planned which locations would be snowy, so instead of 20+ in season 1, I only had 3 in season 2.

Full Episode Acts of Kindness

During the winter on the island of Sodor, everything is very cold. The snow can become a very big problem. Duck finds out that Mrs. Kyndley's cottage is snowed in and she cannot return home and now has no place to stay. Will Duck find a place for Mrs. Kyndley?

This episode and several others from Season 2 were filmed alongside Season 1. You will notice the difference in quality, especially the 4:3 aspect ratio (square) vs. the 16:9 aspect ratio. (rectangle)

I hope someone realized that I named this episode because Duck was being kind to Mrs. Kyndley. Her name was very fitting. The snow in this episode as with all the older episodes is actually potato flakes spread out on my grassy filming sets. I wouldn't recommend this because it was a pain. Maybe on just a set or two, but I did this on over 20 different sets and it became more of a pain than anything.

Full Episode Sir Handel's Trick

Sir Handel is up to no good with his usual pranks. The other engines are worried that he'll be worse than ever as it gets closer to Halloween, they are right! Sir Handel begins telling everyone scary stories to scare them. Peter Sam doesn't believe him, but who will end up believing in the end?

One of the new ideas I had when filming these narrow gauge episodes was to have more sky backgrounds than just the blue for daytime and black for nighttime. I decided to get a little more creative and use gray for cloudy skies and orange for evenings. I really like the way they turned out and I'm glad that they add to feel of autumn for episodes like this.

Full Episode Edward & the Twins

This week on the Island of Sodor, Sir Topham Hatt asks Edward to help Donald & Douglas out while they take care of the yard. Edward finds that the twins are being oddly more troublesome than usual. After talking to BoCo and Trevor, he may have found out why and found a way to stop it. Will Edward's plan work?

This episode and several others from Season 2 were filmed alongside Season 1. You will notice the difference in quality, especially the 4:3 aspect ratio (square) vs. the 16:9 aspect ratio. (rectangle)

When most people read the title, they probably think that the twins is in reference to Bill and Ben, not Donald and Douglas. I'll admit, I'm not too fond of this episode. If I was to get rid of one episode in season 2, it would definitely be this one. I feel that I didn't give it enough detail and attention when I was writing it.

Full Episode Safety Burst

Donald and Douglas have been telling the narrow gauge engines about their race they had. The little engines decide that they want to race too. Since they only have a single track they decide to race by time. Which engine will get the fastest time?

Even as a kid, I always wondered about a story with the narrow gauge engines racing. When I was thinking of the plot for it, I was glad that I was able to reference the season 1 episode Twin Races to help introduce the idea of racing to the little engines.

Also, the title is a play on the phrase 'Safety First!' I wouldn't be surprised if not very many people got the joke.

Full Episode Little Red Friends

Sir Topham Hatt has exciting news for the little engines. He tells them that the Talyllyn Railway has requested that one engine come help them. Sir Topham Hatt sends Rheneas to help out. Skarloey is sad to see his best friend leave. Will the other engines be able to cheer him up?

This episode hits home to me, I have a very close friend who left to the Philippines to do service. Anyone who has said goodbye to a very close friend understands why Skarloey was so sad. And Skarloey had good reason to be sad. Last time Rheneas was gone he was gone for a long time. The great thing about life is that there is never truly a goodbye, it's only just a 'see you later!' I know that for sure.

Also, the title is a play on the classic story 'Little Red Hen.' I wouldn't be surprised if not very many people got the joke.

Full Episode Busiest on Sodor

This week on the Island of Sodor, Percy has had a long day and is very tired. Percy tells Harold about how tired he is, but Harold thinks that Percy isn't very busy. After an argument with Thomas and Percy, Harold tells them that he is the busiest out of anyone on Sodor. Will Harold learn how busy everyone else is too?

This episode and several others from Season 2 were filmed alongside Season 1. You will notice the difference in quality, especially the 4:3 aspect ratio (square) vs. the 16:9 aspect ratio. (rectangle)

The original idea for this episode was Harold's Mountain Adventure, but I realized that it wouldn't be very easy to make a whole episode centering around Harold rescuing a climber. So I combined it with another idea I had about an engine telling everyone that they are the busiest on the island.

Full Episode Envying the Old

This week on the Island of Sodor, Rheneas has been acting very weird lately. He becomes upset whenever Duke tells a story about his old railway with Stuart and Falcon. The other engines can't figure out why. Will they be able to get to the bottom of this?

The title may be confusing because according to the railway series, Rheneas is actually older than Duke. What I was referring to in the title was how Rheneas was envying Duke's old stories. I really like Rheneas' reasoning why he doesn't like the stories. Duke makes it sound like those were the best days and things aren't quite as fun with them now. The moral of this episode is, there is no time like the present.

Full Episode Duncan's Dilemma

This week on the Island of Sodor, Duncan is tired of always being in trouble. He is jealous of the way Skarloey, Rheneas, and Duke are always being praised. Duncan wants to be praised for doing a good job. But after several failed attempts to be good, will Duncan prove himself to be a really useful engine?

Duncan kind of gets picked on as being the mean engine or the bad guy in the narrow gauge stories, so I wanted him to try and be good in an episode. I think Duncan is misunderstood, but yet he can be arrogant and rude with some of the other engines, like Rusty.

Full Episode Diesel of the Railway

This week on the Island of Sodor, Rusty returns from the works and some of the engines are still mad at him for the trouble he caused the railway. Duncan bullies Rusty about being a diesel. Rusty feels bad. BoCo sees Rusty and talks with him about how diesels are taking over the mainland. Will Rusty stay humble or will he take too much pride in being a diesel?

In the TV series episode, Tender Engines, Gordon learns about the takeover of Diesels on the mainland. Besides that episode that is hardly even mentioned. I always wondered if Rusty knew about this, especially since he is a minority on his railway, but on the mainland diesels are the majority. That partially inspired this episode. I also really wanted to have a bonding relationship between Rusty and BoCo, two of the really nice diesels on Sir Topham Hatt's railway that get picked on because they aren't steam engines.

I love the work of Christopher Awdry in the Railway Series. I wish that more of his stories would've been brought to TV. About 5 years ago, I got a hold of the collection book of all of Christopher Awdry's stories. I loved reading through all of them. Full Episode Kick the Bucket

This week on the Island of Sodor, Duke has been asked to pull a very special passenger train. Peter Sam doesn't think he'll be able to do it because of his old age. But when Duke ends up kicking the bucket, who can come take the special train?

I remember the first time I ever heard the phrase, "kick the bucket." I was watching the movie, "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad World." In the beginning of the movie an old man had just gotten in a car accident and was laying on the side of a hill. Several people come to see what happened. While they are checking to see if he is alive, the old man has a sudden twitch and ends a bucket next to his foot. The man checking his pulse then remarks. "Well he kicked the bucket."

Being very young, I didn't know what the phrase meant and I had to ask my dad. He informed me and I always thought that it was a funny little pun. So I wanted have an episode where an engine gets to kick the bucket.

You may have noticed Duke liked to make fun of the "Specials." This was in reference to Seasons 13-16 of the TV series where every job was a special. I wrote that in as a joke to the Sharon Miller era. If you like little jokes and easter eggs about the new Thomas & Friends TV series be sure to comment down below or in the youtube comments section. I always appreciate feedback from my fans.
Hope you enjoy this new adventure! Come back next Wednesday for more adventures from the Island of Sodor!
